Market Basket with Rhapsody space-dyed reed and "S" curls.

Dimensions: 8"W X 12"L X 7"H
Materials: 8x12 D handle; 5/8" flat; 3/8" flat; 5/8" flat dyed; 1/4" flat; 1/2" flat oval; #3 Seagrass
Soak materials.
From 5/8" flat, cut 10 spokes @ 30" long and 7 spokes @ 34" long.   Mark centers on rough side.

Set handle upright, vertically, in front of you. Lay the 7 34" spokes across handle base, alternating over and under the handle base. Center stake weaves Under handle; outside spokes will lay on top of the handle base. There should be a 1/4" space left open between each outside spoke and the upright part of the handle.

Weave 5 30" spokes on each side of handle, using "Over 1 / Under1" weave. Base should measure 12" long and 7-1/4" wide.

Weave a "keeper row" around the edge of the base with 1/4" flat reed, turning the weaver to miter as you weave around corners. Overlap on 4 stakes

Upsett stakes.

Weave sides:
5 rows, Over 1 / Under 1, with 3/8" flat, natural. (First row weaves Under the handle.)
2 rows with 5/8" flat, dyed.
1 row with 1/4" flat, natural.
2 rows with 5/8" flat, dyed.
4 rows with 3/8" flat, natural.

Fold outside spokes to the inside of basket; cut and tuck under 1 or 2 rows of weaving.
Cut inside spokes flush with top edge of basket.
Apply 1/2" flat oval rim around top row of weaving, inside and outside, shaving ends to overlap.
Fill rim with #3 seagrass.
Lash rim with 1/4" flat reed, making an "X" at the handle, as in diagram below left.             
Make curls over each set of dyed rows with 1/2" Ash or Reed, as in diagram below right..
